The Tamil film Padayappa tells the story of a housewife who falls in love with a magician. When she is pregnant, she discovers that her husband is not the father of her child. The film has been dubbed into Telugu as Netto Pothare Baisigaru and Urdu as Langar Khwahish. This Tamil movie released on 22nd December 1997 and was produced by East Coast (Madras (Chennai)). It was directed by Nandi award winning director Panju Arunachalam and stars Prabhu Deva, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Urvashi, Vijayakanth among others. Padayappa ( : Pādaippā) is a 1998 Tamil drama film directed by K. Balachander starring Prabhu Deva, Meena as the main lead roles. It was remade as the Hindi film Shikar (1999) starring Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjana Kapoor and Rimi Sen in the same roles with Deva playing Suhasini's role as Samit Roy. The film was later dubbed in Telugu as "Netto Pothare Baisigaru", starring Mahesh Babu, Sivaranjani, Rakshitha, Suhasini, Jayasudha and Arvind Swamy.
